The class:

Based on skill level, a student will be introduced to the basics of wheel throwing, or will be given tips to improve their skills on centering, lifting, and trimming. At the beginning of each class, Kiara will do demos and then will support students as they dive into their wheel throwing techniques. More experienced students can work along the group or can work independently and seek support when needed. Students will be encouraged to bring in ideas for projects which may be used to feed into their program. This is an 8 week class.

Age 16+

What is included:

• One 25 Lb bag of reclaimed clay per student. Additional clay may be purchased.

Practice time is one 3 hour session a week on Thursdays 2:30-5:30pm or Saturdays 1-4pm.

These slots will need to be reserved. They are available on a first come first serve basis.

You must supply:

• Wheel throwing tools. Follow this link to see a sample of a wheel throwing tool kit.

• Tool kits are available for purchase at the studio for $25.

• Towel, apron and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or stained.

Firing fees are $3.50/pound. 

Parking:

Our street is a rather busy one so if you are driving yourself to class and street parking is not available you may park at 96 Orange Streetat a reduced rate, just let us know and we will validate your ticket.

Cancellation policy

• To request a cancellation or class transfer, you must email us at kiara@kiaramatosceramics.com.

• All refunds for multi-week classes and workshops will charge a $30 processing fee, subtracted from the full or partial refund.

• Cancellations requested at least 10 days prior to the class start date will be fully refundable minus the processing fee.

• Cancellations requested 5 days prior to the class start date will be 50% refundable minus the processing fee.

• Any cancellations requested 1-4 days prior to the class start date will not be refunded.

• Missed classes are non-refundable. Each student will be able to make up only once per semester and all make-ups can only happen during the same semester. We will try our best to accommodate missed classes but we can not guarantee we will have availability. We do ask that you let us know at least 12 hours in advance if you are going to be absent.

• If enrollment goals are not met, we reserve the right to cancel a class or workshop. In the event of a cancellation, a full refund will be granted.

We kindly ask you to avoid the use of your cell phone and keep it silent during class. In the event you needed to take a call please remove yourself from then space to do so, we ask you to do this as a sign of respect to the instructor and fellow students. Cell phones may be used to photograph or take videos when pertinent.

Please try to make it to class on time or even a few minutes early. If you know you are going to be late please let us know in advance. Class will start at 6pm sharp.

The last 30 minutes of class is cleaning time, every student is expected to leave their station as clean as they found it. if you think you need more time please start earlier.
